Economic Development in Greene County, Virginia
The Department of Economic Development in Greene County serves current and future businesses with site location or relocation assistance, start-up information and research support, public relations, development and expansion. Our services and resources are free. We extend our services with confidentiality and courtesy.
Our ultimate goal is to initiate, develop and coordinate economic development efforts in order to achieve and sustain the optimum quality of life for the citizens of our County.
Tony Williams is the Director of the Department of Economic Development in Greene. He reports directorly to the County Administrator, Barry Clark who, in turn, reports directly to the Greene County Board of Supervisors. Tony worked for over seven years with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) as an Associate Project Manager before coming to Greene. He has also served as the Manager of Administration for the Virginia Department of Aviation and was a Senior Marketing Coordinator for the Virginia Tourism Cooperation. He began his career with the State of Virginia in 1989 in the Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The Greene County Economic Development Authority
The Greene County Economic Development Authority (EDA) was formed as a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, August 1976. The EDA assists the Department of Economic Development and the Board of Supervisors in the accomplishment of their goals. The EDA has an all-volunteer Board of Directors appointed by the Greene County Board of Supervisors.
The Greene County Tourism Council
The Greene County Tourism Council was formed to capitalize on the opportunities of the tourism industry. The Executive Committee of the Council is made up of volunteers appointed and managed by the Department of Economic Development.
