GCEDA Press Release Greene County Welcomes New Director of Economic Development
“Tony is a real asset to the local business and tourism industry communities. I was impressed with his connections to economic development on the State level,” said Clark. Williams was Associate Project Manager at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) where he worked for over seven years. Prior to that, Williams worked in the Virginia Departments of Aviation, Tourism and Transportation. Williams’ initial goal is to work closely with the Board of Supervisors and the Economic Development Authority (EDA) to develop business retention and expansion programs serving the needs of the business community already in Greene. “What really is important is meeting with existing businesses and seeing what their concerns are because they can act as ambassadors for Greene County. If the businesses in the community are being cared for and are satisfied, this will speak volumes to future corporate partners,” added Williams. The newly formed department and the EDA will join forces with the County to set new economic direction for increasing County revenues and benefiting its citizens. EDA Vice Chairman, Matthew Woodson stated, “We are fortunate to have a man like Tony with his years of experience at the VEDP who will make a significant contribution to jump start business development in Greene.” Conduct
