GCEDA Press Release Historic Stanardsville Parade of Lights Returns with Holiday Open House
This year's Parade is even bigger and better with more floats and music, wrapped up with a visit from Santa Claus. The Lafayette Inn will again be serving refreshments while Greene's own Warmed Over Boys will serenade dinner guests. Prior to the Parade, Saturday, December 1, the Greene County Historical Society will host a Grand Opening of its newly renovated Museum in the Old County Jail from 3 to 6 pm, with a ribbon cutting at 4:00 pm. The Old County Jail, now the Greene County Historical Society Museum and Genealogy Research Center, stands to the east of the Courthouse at 38 Court Street in downtown Stanardsville. The Parade of Lights will be followed Sunday by a Holiday Open House Tour of Greene County's historic Bed and Breakfast Inns, Vacation Rentals and Cabins, December 2nd from 12 noon to 400pm. Unique forms of lodging from secluded cabins in the woods to historical, award winning Inns will open their doors. Heavenly Acres Campground will feature their new Caboose. The Open House Tour begins at the Greene County Visitors Center in the Virginia Shops, just off US 33 West at 9661 Spotswood Trail where tour maps and refreshments will be available. The cost is free. It is a self-guided tour so you drive yourself. Please call 434-985-6663 for information.
